Maria Alfaro is a passionate mental health advocate who has combined her love for behavioral health, education and most importantly her lived experiences with mental illness to fuel a mental health movement that is bringing forth systematic social change.   At the age of 15, Maria found herself learning about her mothers bipolar disorder and quickly realized there was no culturally relevant support outlet for her to turn to.  So she created one.  This realization and the nonexistent mental health education in school systems led her to form what is today: Que Paso Latinx.  She is a first-generation Salvadoran American from Yonkers, New York.  She is a published author and a motivational speaker.  Maria holds a bachelor’s in behavioral sciences and a master’s in organizational leadership.  She has over 8 years of experience in the healthcare field and serves as our Executive Director.
